What this strategy is trying to capture
REIT Radar is the site’s first asset-class-specific screen. It scores only Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) โ companies that own income-producing real estate and are required to distribute most of their rental income to shareholders.
Only REITs are scored. Non-REIT stocks do not appear on this page.
This makes it useful for readers who want to compare REITs against each other on the metrics that matter most for real estate investing.
Filter criteria
industry LIKE 'REIT%'
All tickers classified as REITs by Yahoo Finance are included, covering diversified, industrial, retail, residential, office, healthcare, hotel, specialty, and mortgage REITs.
Why these metrics matter
The score combines three dimensions:
- Distribution Yield (40% weight) โ The primary reason investors buy REITs is income. Higher yield = higher score.
- Price-to-Book / NAV (30% weight) โ A REIT trading below book value (P/B < 1) may be undervalued relative to its real estate assets. Lower P/B = higher score.
- Debt-to-Equity / Leverage (30% weight) โ REITs use debt to buy property. Less debt = less risk. Lower leverage = higher score.

A high score means the numbers look attractive, not that the REIT is safe.
How to use it responsibly
Start with the table below, then open a few ticker pages and ask:
- Is the yield high because of strong fundamentals or a falling share price?
- Is the leverage manageable in a rising interest rate environment?
- What type of properties does the REIT own, and are they in demand?
